How to play Daily Classic Sudoku

Daily Classic Sudoku uses the familiar 9-by-9 grid divided into nine 3-by-3 boxes. Fill each empty square with a digit from 1 to 9 so that no digit repeats in any row, column or box.

  1. Choose Easy, Medium or Hard, then select an empty square. The given digits stay fixed.
  2. Select a digit on the number pad to enter it. Use Notes when you want to record candidates instead of committing an answer.
  3. Compare the selected square's row, column and box. Use Undo to step back or Hint to fill one unresolved square.
  4. Choose Check to review the grid. Completing every square correctly finishes the puzzle.

Plan your next move

Start with a row, column or box that is almost complete. Identify the missing digits and check where each could legally fit. If only one digit can occupy a square, place it and review the intersecting row and column.

Use notes to hold a small set of candidates while you work elsewhere. Revisit them after each confirmed placement. A digit may fit the visible row but still conflict with the box, so check all three constraints before entering it.

How do Notes work?

With Notes on, tapping a number toggles that candidate in the selected editable square. Notes are working marks rather than final entries. Turn Notes off to place a digit.

Do mistakes and hints affect the score?

Yes. Incorrect number entries and hints reduce the result. Check reviews the current grid, while Hint supplies a correct digit. The completion panel summarizes the mistakes and hints for that attempt.
