DC Comics artist recreates the character Goku to pay tribute to Akira Toriyama

Akira Toriyama and the character Goku in Dragon Ball are still monuments in the hearts of many people.

Jim Lee, a famous artist of DC Comics, recently paid homage to the anime universe with a drawing of Son Goku, paying tribute to the late artist Akira Toriyama, creator of Dragon Ball.

“In memory of the legendary mangaka Akira Toriyama, who brought the world the wonderful Dragon Ball Z. Drawn live on my last day,” Jim Lee wrote.

Lee, who has experimented with illustrating famous anime characters, once again recreated the character Goku in his Super Saiyan form. The photo shows that Lee still excels artistically, even while holding executive positions at DC.

Additionally, Lee contributed to the DC Versus Marvel Omnibus by illustrating a cover, celebrating the intersection between the worlds of comics and manga. With Lee’s continued interest in anime, expectations will increase for his future works related to Dragon Ball Z. Especially after the uncertainty regarding the future of the Dragon Ball Z world after Toriyama’s departure raises the question of continuing the film under the direction of artist Toyotaro?

Some fan comments about Jim Lee’s Goku illustration:

– I never imagined I could see Goku through Jim Lee’s pen, until today. Really impressive.

– I wish Jim Lee would reprise the character of Gutz in Berserk.

– Looks like a younger comic book version of Jackie Chan, who Toriyama basically identifies as Goku.

– If only someone would make a manga with Goku and Superman teaming up.
